COMMONWEALTH SPOON RESULTS AT KILSPINDIE ON 28th MAY 2015

Today at Kilspindie Golf Club all the ladies who had confirmed entry participated and we were fortunate we did not have to send out 3 balls today. The weather was very testing with squalls and sunshine but always wind so well done to all those who participated. Even if you did not complete 18 holes it was good to hear the chatter in the clubhouse afterwards. Well done to our qualifiers!

CLARA TRIUMPHS AT MONIFIETH

What a fantastic achievement for Clara on her return from one year in the States to win the Scottish Ladies Amateur Championship at Monifieth. She played superb golf as can be seen by her statistics during the match play rounds.

Round 1 v's Jennifer Saxton - Clara was -1 for 13 holes played and won 6&5

Round 2 v's Louise MacGregor - Clara was -4 for 13 holes played and won 7&5
(Even windier!)
Friday
1/4 Final v's Jacqueline Sneddon - Clara was +1 for 15 holes played and won
4&3 (Really Windy Again!)
Semi Final v's Kimberley Beveridge - Clara was -2 for 17 holes played and
won 2&1 (Breezy)
Saturday
Final v's Rachel Walker - Clara was -2 for 18 holes played and won 1 Up
(Gorgeous Day)

 There was also no caddy continuity. She had 5 different caddies - Dawn Darling, Heather Munro, her mother Dawn, Alan Cameron and her father Alan on the last day. As Dawn said " It was all down to Clara's superb ball striking and accuracy and those of us who were lucky enough to be on the bag or spectate during the match play rounds in particular were treated to some great golf."

ELLCGA are extremely proud of Clara's achievement and delighted she is one of our team members who will be playing at Scotscraig. We hope this season goes from strength to strength for Clara!

 

 

 

 

CLARA YOUNG IN FINAL OF SCOTTISH LADIES

Well done to Clara today winning through to the final tomorrow. Clara beat the number 2 seed Jacqueline Sneddon in the morning and went on to beat Kimberley Beveridge by 2 and 1 in the semi final. Tomorrow she plays Rachel Walker another United States College student. We will all be rooting for Clara tomorrow.

In the Clark Rosebowl another ELLCGA member made the final. Lesley Atkins beat Kirsty Brodie in the morning and had a ding dong match against Carol Wilson finally losing at the 18th hole. Well played Lesley!

RESULTS FROM LADIES SCOTTISH AMATEUR AT MONIFIETH 21/5/15

Well done to Clara Young for getting through both her rounds today especially in the afternoon against Louise Macgregor winning 7 and 5 and being 4 under par and reaching the quarterfinals. Lesley Atkins also won through 2 rounds of the Clark Rosebowl and had a big win in the afternoon. Commiserations to Dawn Sarah and Stacey but great you all qualified. We wish Clara and Lesley good luck in their matches tomorrow.

ELLCGA TEAM FOR JAMBOREE AT SCOTSCRAIG JUNE 22nd-24th 2015

ELLCGA selection committee met on 13th May and agreed on selection of the team to represent ELLCGA at the County Jamboree.

The players really appreciate the lady members who come to trolley pull during the 3 days of competition. It is a great opportunity to watch some competitive ladies golf and feel part of the County team.Your support is really appreciated.

 

 

ELLCGA PLAYERS ARE QUALIFIERS AT MONIFIETH

There were obviously testing conditions at Monifieth over the past 2 days but all 5 county members who were playing in the Scottish Ladies Amateur have qualified for the matchplay and Clark Rosebowl stages.

Clara Young who just returned from Missouri College on Sunday scored 76and 75 to qualify 9th in the match play competition. Lesley Atkins (81,81),Sarah Stichbury (79,86),Stacey Cameron (84,83) and Dawn Young (84,83) all qualified for the Clark Rosebowl and Lesley and Sarah are playing each other in the first round. We wish them all good luck in their respective matches.

The ladies representing ELLCGA as the official team for the County Cup at the Scottish ladies this week are:-

Stacey Cameron (Gullane Ladies) is also playing  in the tournament at Monifieth Links.

We wish them good luck in the stroke play rounds and hopefully on to the match play rounds as well.I hope the weather improves for them and is a little warmer.

 

East Division Inter County Jamboree - trolley pullers wanted

The East Division Inter County Jamboree will be held at Scotscraig this year from Monday 22nd to Wednesday 24th June 2015. We will be trying hard to repeat last year's success in qualifying for the County Finals.

As always we are looking for volunteers to trolley pull for the team. The good news is that I am told the course is relatively flat. Volunteers are required for all 3 days. Volunteers can opt to "pull" morning or afternoon or both.

These days we normally use electric trollies so not too much actual pulling!

Everyone who has helped in the past know how much their efforts and time are appreciated by the team and it is a great way to watch top amateur golf and feel involved.

Scottish Ladies (close) Amateur Championship 2015

East Lothian are well represented at this year's championship with five of our members taking part. Clara Young and Lesley Atkins return from their studies in USA in time to take part and they are joined by Dawn Young, Sarah Stichbury and Stacey Cameron.

Clara, Lesley and Sarah are the nominated players for the team trophy with Dawn as the reserve.

The East team retained the Trophy when they met the West at Bothwell Castle on Sunday 10th May 2015.

The East Lothian girls who took part were Joanne Free (Gullane Ladies), Lauren Lee (Musselburgh) and Catherine Milne (North Berwick) so we were well represented. Indeed Annabel Hosie was also selected but had to withdraw with an injured wrist.

They played in breezy and showery conditions at the start of their round but happily the conditions improved as the day went on. Our girls all played well with Catherine putting up a strong fight after going 3 down early on. 

Congratulations to all the girls who took part.
