ELLCGA CHAMPIONSHIP and Handicap Quaich Results

ELLCGA CHAMPIONSHIP - 2016 MUSSELBURGH GOLF CLUB

With a strong easterly wind the Scratch Championship set off early this morning resulting in surprise losses for two previous champions. Dulcie Barnes in the first match played steadily to beat Mary Lou Watkins, No. 1 seed and the 2014 champion, 3 and 2. In the bottom half of the draw Sarah Stichbury beat the second seed Liz Dunn Butler, the reigning champion, 2 up.

Mary Lou Watkins (GLGC) lost to Dulcie Barnes (NBGC) 3 and 2

Elaine Wolstencroft (KGC) lost to Susan Penman (GLGC) 3 and 1

Keren Ward (NBGC) beat Hazel Saunders (GLGC) 2 and 1

Dianne Brown (Renaissance) lost to Barbara Biggart (NBGC) 1 down

Jill McNicoll (DCGC) lost to Jane Herd (GLGC) 2 down

Stacey Cameron (GLGC) lost to Pam Hall (RMGC) 6 and 4

Kay Lannin (Craigielaw) beat Elinor Blair (NBGC) 4 and 3

Sarah Stichbury (GLGC) beat Liz Dunn Butler (GLGC) 2up

The conditions were more difficult in the afternoon with a swirling wind but the sun did come out at times. Dulcie Barnes and Susan Penman had a close match with Susan triumphing at the 17^th. Keren Ward played steady golf and won at the 14^th with a birdie. Jane Herd played well against Pam Hall to win 6 and 5. Kay Lannin and Sarah Stichbury played par golf ,with Kay winning with a birdie at the 18^th .

Kay Lannin (Craigielaw) beat Sarah Stichbury (GLGC) 1 up

In the Handicap Quaich all the matches were close in the morning and the final tomorrow will be between two Musselburgh members.

Barbara Wallace (DGC) lost to Janette Laing (MGC) 3 and 1

Lilias McNicoll (DCGC) beat Christian Blake (NBGC) 2 and 1

Anne Blundell (MGC) beat Marie Young (NBGC) 2 up

Semifinals

Ann Rorrison (MGC) lost to Janette Laing (MGC) 4 and 2

Lilias McNicoll (DCGC) lost to Anne Blundell (MGC) 1 up

The semi final tees off at 9am for the Championship and the final of the handicap tees off at 9.15am. The final of the scratch will tee off at 2pm with the prize giving at approximately 5 - 5.30 pm.
