Despite the competing attractions of amongst other things a dinner elsewhere, a Scotland v. Wales International at Murrayfield, 51 ladies attended on the day. Helen Faulds, the Scottish Vets and Scottish Senior Ladies' Team Captain was a very entertaining guest speaker. We will all have favourites from the many and varied stories. One favourite is that of the American lady golfer in the days when golf balls floated. Having mis-judged her shot across the water she decided to take to a boat to pursue her ball down river. She eventually caught up with it a mile and a half later and decided to continue play. It is unfortunate that there was rather a lot of rough ground and trees between her and the green. Undetered and 159 shots later she made it. An example of determination as Helen said, though she did wonder if she had waived through the following players! It is an example to us also that we should read the rule book and take the one shot penalty and keep a good stock of golf balls in our bags!
Sue Penman was chief photographer and a selection of the photographs are attached.
Our guest speaker Helen Faulds is photographed flanked by Barbara and Dawn in front of a selection of the new clothing and accessories which were on display. Further details are available on the website.
