On Sunday 9th November East Lothian Ladies were invited to play in a friendly match against Lanarkshire so members of the squad could have good competitive practice. I had initially had a good response and was going to field a team of 10 but Lanarkshire could only field a team of 8. I should not have been so confident as unfortunately I had 3 call offs due to ill health and commitments and suddenly I was struggling to field a team. It was a full day away and not easy to get replacements at such short notice and I am very grateful to Ros Thoresen and my vice Captain Elaine Dick who stepped into the breach!
It was a lovely day and Lanakshire were very welcoming greeting us with coffee and sandwiches on arrival and feeding us afterwards as well. Jean McIntyre the Lanarkshire Captain and I agreed that with ELLCGA fielding a weaker team it would be fairer to play off handicap rather than scratch.The course was in great condition even after the rain the day before and I certainly enjoyed a very competitive match as well as enjoying the lovely scenery. I am pleased to say we managed a draw and everyone enjoyed their matches and the company. After a very much appreciated meal of soup and sanwiches it was agreed that Lanarkshire would return for a match in East Lothian in November 2015 with a venue to be arranged.
