The Scottish Women and Girls Teams have been in action this week in Denmark and Czech Republic. Both teams finished on a winning note having struggled all week. Clara Young and Joanne Free have been in the respective teams.
The Women’s Team qualified for the Flight B semi-finals of the Team Championship on Thursday by beating Slovenia 3-2. In the foursomes tie Rachel Walker and Clara Young won 1up, while in the single
Rachel Taylor and Jess Meek both won their matches 1up while Connie Jaffrey lost 2 & 1 and Heather Munro lost by 7 & 5.
On Friday the team went down 3.5-1.5 to Belgium in the Semi-Final. Rachel and Clara won their foursome match 1up and Heather Munro halved her match.
In the final match on Friday the Team beat Turkey 4-1. Rachel & Clara contributed to the points tally by continuing their winning streak in the foursomes with a 5 & 3 win.
Over in Czech Republic the Girls’ Team had to settle for Flight B too but lost their quarter final tie to Sweden on Thursday and their Friday match to Ireland. They came out fighting for the final match on Saturday and beat Switzerland 3.5 – 1.5. Wins were secured by Clare Robertson and Emma Hale in the foursomes and Shannon McWilliam and Joanne Free in the singles. Chloe Goadby added to the points with a halved match but Hazel MacGarvie was unable to join her team mates in the points tally.
