Many of our members have been doing very well in their Club Championships. We thought it would be good to include information on all the Championships.

Mail on Sunday Competition

North Berwick is flying the East Lothian flag with a winning streak in this annual competition. They won their 6th round match on Sunday versus Milngavie, 5-0 .

They await news of their next opponents. Good luck in the next round.

Expanded website

We will shortly be adding two new categories to our website. Our members are also active members of their own clubs and support the open days run by clubs in the East Lothian area. We thought it would be a good idea to add two new categories.

East Lothian Clubs Championships will record details of all the Ladies Champions and runners up. A number of clubs have their championships later in the year but we are currently gather details of those that have been held and the list will be posted soon.

East Lothian Clubs Ladies Open Days will carry a list of Ladies Opens held at Clubs in East Lothian. It will carry the date, club, type of competion and the website details for the club so that you can log on and download entry forms. We felt it might be a useful service to members to be able to log on to one site to get details of the local open days. We are too late this year for some clubs but hope that all full list for 2014 will be posted early in the season next year but it is not too late to enter those listed for August this year!

Scottish Senior Ladies Nett Match Play 2013

Barabara Biggart & Elinor Blair returned to West Linton this morning for the first round of the match play.

Barbara had a good 3&2 win in the morning over Morag Wadrop. In a hard fought match in the afternoon quarter finals Barbara lost by 1 hole.

Elinor played well for a 4&3 win over Louise Rigg in the morning game but unfortunately lost by a similar margin to Fioans Cemeron in the afternoon quarter final.

Well done in getting so far in what has been testing summer weather.

Clara and Lesley are Sweden bound

Lesley Atkins and Clara Young will be heading off to Sweden very early on Saturday to participate in the European Girls Team Championships at Linkopings Golf Club as part of the 6 girl Scottish Team. 

The full team comprises - Lesley Atkins (Gullane Ladies), Connie Jaffrey (Ladies GC Troon), Fiona Liddell (Schloss Vornholz), Heather Munro (Monifieth), Lauren Whyte (St Regulus) and Clara Young (North Berwick).

The Tournament dates are 9 to 13 July following 2 practice rounds the format is 2 rounds singles stroke play on days 1 and 2 with the lowest five scores from each team’s six players will count each day. The aggregate of the five lowest stroke play scores from play on Days 1 and 2 will constitute each team’s score for determining the match play stage seeded draw.

Scottish Senior Ladies Championship 2013 & Nett Match Play

The stroke play championship was played over 2 rounds at West Linton in what the SLGA described as tough conditions. This was reflected in the scoring. Anna Telfer (Milngavie) won after a second round 79 for an 11 over par 155.

Two of our members battled round to qualify for the Nett Match Play and we wish Barbara Biggart and Elinor Blair good luck for their first round matches  tomorrow (Thursday) morning. An update will follow tomorrow evening.

East of Scotland Girls Championship

Congratulations go to Joanne Free who was crowned as East Of Scotland Girls Champion at Braehead GC today.

Joanne beat Katie Darling (Ravelston) 6 & 5 in the quarter finals and then met fellow EL girl Charlotte Munro in the semi's. Charlotte had a good win of 7 & 5 over Anna Massey (Elie & Earlsferry) in the quarter finals but lost to Joanne 5 & 4 in the semi final.

In the final Joanne played Catherine Goodwin (Glenbervie) and clinched victory on the 19th.
